Health

The Mar Menor and the Mediterranean are connected by four channels to ensure the replenishing of the lagoon water in spite of evaporation. The salt content of the Mar Menor varies between 42 and 47%, whereas that of the Mediterranean varies between 36 and 38 %.

The Mar Menor offers visitors high salt and iodine waters which are excellent for a number of ailments. As confirmed by Murcia University scholars, these waters can cure rheumatism, arthritis and gout, the muds accelerate the healing of bone factures.
